This Is My Home
This poem was inspired by an accidental line drawn on a post-it note. It looked almost like the outline of a woman’s hip, so I drew the rest of her figure, and then started writing. The drawing is below, along with the poem.
THIS is my home
This earthsuit, made of flesh and bone
Stitched together with love and grace
And wide-eyed wonder
This IS my home
This body, made of laughter and scars
And fire that burns deep into the night
Dancing in my eyes
This is MY home
This girl, made of wild air and the sea
My depths still undiscovered
And begging to be known
This is my HOME
This breath that floods my open chest
Dear Body,
I’m coming home
